And we believe that it’s in our investors’ best interests to invest in humanity by supporting good corporate actors because investors are humans too. Together we can create a revolution in how organizations are valued, managed and ultimately, how they impact humanity. This isn’t a gimmick for us. It’s our founding purpose. Our commitment to weighing the costs and benefits of investment decisions as they impact the investors, customers and employees of companies we invest in as well as society in general, is the foundation of everything we do. It’s in our corporate constitution. It’s baked into our DNA. But we can’t do it without investors who choose to put positive humanitarian outcomes on par with profits. It all starts with you.
Our Principles
The arena of socially responsible investing is littered with acronyms and themes that try to capture exactly what it means for an organization to be “socially responsible.” At Humankind Investments we think it’s quite simple: Maximize the good you do and minimize the bad. From protecting our environment to preserving human rights, treating employees equitably to producing health-promoting products, we all tend to have shared intuitions for what makes a company a “good” company. At Humankind we’re not trying to redefine corporate morality. We’re working to quantify it. We do a deep dive on companies – using a combination of over 30 metrics for assessment – to analyze targets holistically and within the context of the market in which they operate. Then we assign an estimated dollar value to the benefit they provide to humanity.
